Welcome to Florida

So, this morning I woke up early and drove to Florida.  I'm not kidding.  After I finished my classes I had a blissful month of sleeping in, working out, and watching Netflix, but the fun and shenanigans end tomorrow when I start my summer internship.  Or maybe there will be fun and shenanigans involved in the internship.  We shall see.  In any case, I weighed myself this morning before I packed up my scale and there was happy news to begin the day.  I lost 2.2 pounds since the last time I posted a scale picture!

We're going to pretend my toes look better than they actually do because who needs a perfect pedicure when progress is being made on the scale?  I wish I could say the rest of my day was magically awesome like my weigh-in, but sadly, driving 10+ hours did not a good time make. Periodically while I was driving there were random bouts of Noah's ark style rain and lightning that forced me to slow down to around 40 mph and cower behind the wheel.  Additionally, I failed to map out my gas and bathroom breaks so my pit stops were hit or miss.  The first gas station had one of the filthiest bathrooms I've ever peed in and I had to perform various evasive maneuvers to ensure that no part of my body touched anything in the bathroom, toilet seat included.  The second gas station I stopped at was immaculate in comparison, but I had developed a headache by the time I got there and was really just over being on the road.  It was an incredibly draining experience, but I made it with no major mishaps/unplanned detours (read: I didn't get lost and wind up in Texas).

When I got to my summer digs I got my car load of stuff inside and made a quick dinner of pasta and spaghetti sauce.  The place where I'm staying doesn't have a full kitchen, so I'm going to have to get creative to keep my eating on track.
I invested in a hot plate and brought some groceries with me from home to get me through the first few days until I can get settled.
It's not the most elaborate meal I've ever made, but it kept me from stopping at a fast food place and scarfing down a burger and fries so I guess I can't complain.  Anyway, I'll check back in tomorrow once I've had a chance to scope out the fitness center downstairs.  When I left this morning I was feeling particularly optimistic and had decided I would drive 10 hours, move all my stuff into my room, and then go to the gym.  It's basically the best joke I've told in a long time. Night y'all.  Gotta wake up early and get to work on time like a responsible human being.
